Law Enforcement

The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Police Department provides public safety services for Tribal citizens, Reservation residents, community members, and Tribal operations. Established in 2013, the Department is located on the Kootenai Indian Reservation, and enforces both Kootenai Tribe and federal laws.

Officers are responsible for maintaining peace, protecting life and property, and serving the community. As a community-based policing agency, the Department values engagement and input from the Tribal community to address local concerns. The Police Department also works closely with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure coordinated and effective law enforcement services.
